St John's

WELCOME to the Hall Church of St John the Baptist

St John’s is a Hall Church, built in 1957-58 to serve the people in the southern part of Kidlington, where there had been substantial post-war housing developments. It was always intended for both Christian worship and community use and that has continued to this day.

2017 is seeing the exciting development of the Kidlington Community Hub at St John's - set up initally to run and host groups that used to meet at the Kaleidoscope Children's Centre, but with plenty of ideas for future activities for other ages and needs. We already have "under 5s stay and play" groups Little Bunnies on Mondays and Little Acorns on Tuesdays with Little Stars later on Tuesdays. And Now I am Two is running during term time on Wednesdays at 1pm from 13th September. The Community Baby Clinic and Midwife appointments (see Clinics) are at St John's on a Friday. Also in our sister church, St Mary's, we have Bouncing Babies on Wednesday mornings and Mothers & Toddlers on Thursdays.

St John’s exists to enable its people to follow the example of Jesus in his acceptance of all people with love, concern and understanding for their sake (John 13:34) that together we may come to know the love of Christ.
(Ephesians 3:14-19)

Several new groups will be using the hall from October or November 2017.

Visit our Photo Gallery for just a few pictures of our building and events.

The building is available for hire at all times when it is not needed for other activities. Local groups use it for regular activities, especially taking advantage of the spacious main hall, with sprung floor, which is ideal for dancing and exercise classes. It is also available for one-off events, such as family parties, fund-raising events, training meetings etc. For more info see here.
